Tour Highlights

Migdal Shalom

We begin the tour at Migdal Shalom, where we visit the impressive model of the White City. This detailed model offers a unique overview of Tel Aviv’s urban layout and helps us understand the scale and planning behind the famous Bauhaus district. Alongside the model, we explore a historical photo exhibition that documents the early years of Tel Aviv and the development of its modern architectural identity.

Independence Hall

We continue to the historic Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence of Israel was proclaimed in 1948. The building is currently under renovation, so for now we view it from the outside while discussing the dramatic moment when the modern State of Israel was declared.

Rothschild Boulevard

From there we stroll along Rothschild Boulevard, the heart of the White City and part of the UNESCO World Heritage site. The boulevard is lined with iconic Bauhaus and International Style buildings, known for their clean lines, functional design, and climate-adapted architecture. This area beautifully demonstrates how modernist ideas shaped the visual identity of Tel Aviv.

Habima Square

We arrive at Habima Square, home to the Habima National Theater, Israel’s national theater and a key cultural landmark. Here we discuss the famous Geddes Plan, the first comprehensive urban plan of Tel Aviv, and explore how the city has continued to develop architecturally from its early vision to present-day urban planning.

Dizengoff Center

Next we explore Dizengoff Center, the first shopping mall in Israel and a striking example of Brutalist architecture. Designed by Israeli architect Yitzhak Yashar, the complex’s raw concrete forms reflect the architectural trends of the 1970s. Its famously confusing layout has become part of local culture—many say you haven’t truly experienced Tel Aviv until you’ve gotten lost in Dizengoff Center at least once.

The Bauhaus Center

 Verified JMU Birthright Experience I went on a birthright trip from late December into early January and Gal was our tour guide! She gracefully gave swift and accurate remarks regarding every city and destination we went to through out this experience. Some of her feats included recounting 2,000 years of Jerusalem history in under 2 minutes and crafting an incredibly engaging story about the tribulations on Masada.  Verified An incredible trip that taught me so much more about our history! Wow what an INCREDIBLE trip and a lot of that had to do with our time spent with Gal! We thank you so much for being an amazing guide during our trip and educating us further on the history of Masada (never knew about king Herod!) , the kotel/old city history and the dead sea. I only knew so much as an American Jew visiting Israel but experiencing important parts with a guide that became a friend is HIGHLY recommended. will absolutely recommend Gal as a guide not only here but also to friends going to Israel.
